What Is an Upblast Roof Exhaust Fan?

An upblast roof exhaust fan is a rooftop-mounted centrifugal ventilation fan. Air is pulled from the building through ductwork, enters the roof fan, is accelerated by the centrifugal impeller, and is then discharged vertically upward. The upward discharge helps direct exhaust away from the roof surface and building.

This configuration is suited to demanding commercial and industrial exhaust applications, including restaurants and commercial kitchens, factories, smoke exhaust systems and agricultural facilities.

Upblast Roof Exhaust Fan FAQ

What is the difference between an upblast and a standard roof exhaust fan?

An upblast fan discharges exhaust vertically upward, helping move exhausted air away from the roof surface.

Which RCU model should I choose?

Selection should be based on required airflow, static pressure, drive type, power supply, temperature and installation dimensions. Send your target CFM and static pressure to sales@airtechz.com.

Can I choose direct drive or belt drive?

Yes, depending on model. The RCU catalog includes both configurations.

What voltage and frequency are available?

The supplied technical material includes single-phase and three-phase motor configurations, with examples such as 220 V / 60 Hz and 380 V / 60 Hz. Confirm the required electrical supply when requesting a quotation.
